Lakanfla Project

The Lakanfla Project (formerly Kantela Project) consists of 48 square kilometers of mineral rights in the Kineiba Inlier of western Mali. The Company acquired 100% interest in the project in January 2003 through an option agreement. There is a residual 3% NSR held by the Optionor. The permit is adjacent to the Sadiola Mine and within the same stratigraphic sequence as the mine and its satellite deposits. Since 2003, the Company has made approximately CAD$1.5 MM in exploration expenditures on the permit.

There are three gold occurrences on the property. Two of the gold occurrences are related to narrow, northeast‐trending quartz veins or small quartz breccia bodies within silicified argillite and graphitic argillite. One of the gold occurrences (Zone 2) is contained in the margin of a silicified granitoid pluton which has a diameter of approximately 2 km. The gold was superimposed upon the pluton in association with quartz and disseminated pyrite and arsenopyrite. The gold occurrence trends northeast, parallel to the long axis of the deformed pluton.

Zone 2 has been evaluated by drilling over a strike length of 250 meters and has a maximum width of approximately 50 meters. The Company completed an internal, non NI 43‐101 compliant, resource estimate of the Zone 2 occurrence in 2007. Using an assay wire frame cut off of 0.2 g/t Au, a cut off grade of 0.5 g/t Au, and specific gravity of 2.3 g/cc, it was estimated that Zone 2 contains 139,000 ounces of gold in 5,550,000 tonnes of rock at an average grade of 0.78 g/t Au. Zone 2 is open to the south and down dip.

Additional exploration is recommended to expand the resource at Zone 2 along strike and down dip. Additional exploration is also recommended to locate and sample a reactive carbonate layer that may occur on the property and to verify and upgrade geochemical anomalies near the southern and northern boundaries of the property.
